About Us
For more than 50 years Bergs Deer Control has protected Michigan neighborhoods, parks, farms, and even corporate proving-grounds from the problems that come with an oversized deer herd. Founder Mike Berg grew up immersed in the outdoors—his parents introduced him to loggers, farmers, DNR officers, hunters, trappers, and wildlife biologists, instilling a lifelong curiosity about how deer and people share the same spaces. At age 11 he completed Michigan Hunter-Safety training; by the early 1980s he was living in the mountains at Idaho Guide School, mastering back-country survival and understanding deer habitat first-hand.
Back home, Mike guided hunts across Michigan and Wisconsin and launched one of the state’s dedicated nuisance-animal control businesses, honing the data-driven culling methods we still use today. Formal study continued under urban-deer expert Dr. DeNicola at Purdue, where Mike specialised in sensitive-area herd reduction. Today our crews manage deer populations for airports, city parks, golf courses, farms, municipalities, the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and Chrysler’s Proving Grounds in Chelsea—where safety, accuracy, and discretion are non-negotiable.
Experienced Sharpshooter Team
Every marksman completes an 8-hour annual certification covering deer anatomy, range proficiency, ethics, and live-fire qualification—the most rigorous program in the state.
Humane, Data-Driven Methods
360° thermal cameras, scoped optics, and cellular trail cams pinpoint only the animals that need to be removed, keeping stress—and noise—for surrounding residents near zero.
Refrigerated Recovery & Donation
A custom-built, on-site refrigerated trailer chills each deer immediately; 100 % of the meat is donated for human consumption, while antlers go to Michigan DNR biologists for research.
End-to-End Support
From permit paperwork and public-meeting presentations to post-cull population analytics, we handle every step so communities regain balance with minimal disruption.
